Care market data, read by people who have worked in care
We turn the public data on England's care market into one clear report per council area, for people making real decisions about care homes and home care.
Why we built this
If you want to buy a care home in Kent or open a home care agency in Ashford, the answers exist. They are spread across CQC spreadsheets, ONS projections, council fee returns, Market Position Statements and Companies House. Pulling them together takes days, and the national reports that do it cost over a thousand pounds and say little about your area.
We do that work once for each council, check it, and explain what it means. Every chart says where its numbers came from and when.
"I have worked in nursing and care homes for years. I built the report I wanted when I was deciding where care was needed and what it would pay."
Four rules for every report
Source and date under every chart and table. No estimates dressed up as facts.
One council at a time, down to every district and every home of 20 beds or more.
Chart titles say what the chart shows. Findings say what they mean for you.
One price per area on the page. No sales calls, no subscription traps.
How a report is built
The same steps for every council, rerun every quarter.
- Load the official files. CQC active and deactivated locations and latest ratings, published monthly. Dual registrations are counted once.
- Match to council and district by postcode, and add ONS population projections for people aged 65+ and 85+.
- Add the money. Council fee rates from MSIF returns and who pays from the adult social care finance return.
- Trace the owners. Each provider is matched to Companies House for status, accounts and secured lending.
- Read the council's plans. We summarise its Market Position Statement and payment terms in plain English.
- Check, write and publish. Figures are checked against the source, then findings are written by a person.
